Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit

Due to situations out of our control the March Class has been cancelled.  The April Class will still be held!

(Your payment will be held over to our next class if an emergency comes up and you cannot make the class you signed up for)

Handgun Permit Classes:
 Start 9AM.   This will be an 8 Hour Class.  You will need your Handgun, Ammo, Eye and Hearing Protection, Strong Side Holster and New Ammo. (DO NOT BRING HANDGUN INTO CLASSROOM)
   Pre-Payment is required to sign up.

Skip's Firearms Handgun Carry Class will be given on the grounds of the Chattanooga Rifle Club.  It is on Hunter Road almost directly across from the entrance to Hunter Middle School.

Tennessee requires the Handgun Carry Class to be 8 hours in length.  That is 4 hours of classroom and 4 hours of range time.  We will take a 10 minute break each hour and we will make sure the lecture part of the course is interesting.  There is a soft drink machine on site, but if you want some snacks you should bring them with you.

• Classroom consists of you listening to us talk for a few hours, watching a TN Law video and then taking a test.
• The range consists of each person shooting 50 rounds at a Silhouette target.  10 rounds each from 3 Yards, 6 Yards, 9 Yards, 12 Yards and 15 Yards.

You do not have to be an expert shot to pass this course.  We will be there to give you some pointers and help if needed.  So don't stress out, just show up and enjoy yourself.

Things You will need to bring:

1. Handgun:  Semi - Auto or Revolver.  (Preferably a size you would carry)
2. 50 Rounds of Ammo.  This must be NEW factory ammo.  We will check your ammo.
3. Eye and Hearing Protection
4. Strong Side Holster - A holster that rides on the side that corresponds to which handed you are. (Left or Right)
5. Drivers License
6. If you are a member of the Chattanooga Rifle Club please bring your CRC membership card.

When you come to the class, DO NOT bring your handgun  into the classroom.  If you show up to class with a loaded handgun, you may be asked to leave.  The Chattanooga Rifle Club is a COLD RANGE; which means firearms are only loaded when you are prepared to address your target.  We will instruct you when to load your handgun.

The gate at the Chattanooga Rifle Club will be open from 20 minutes before class time to 5 minutes before class time.  If you arrive after that you will have to sign up for another class. PLEASE BE AT LEAST 5 MINUTES EARLY AS STATED ABOVE!  (We cannot be at the gate and the classroom at the same time)

We have to have a minimum of 15 people but no more than 25 to hold a TN Handgun Carry Permit Class.  If you have an organization and would like to have a private class, then you must have at least 15 people.

Classes will be cancelled without prior notice if there is not at least 15 people signed up. We will notify you when we reschedule the class.

Directions to the Chattanooga Rifle Club:  Across from Hunter Middle School entrance.

From the North and East: Knoxville / Asheville

Take I.75 South to Exit 11 then turn right at the traffic light in front of Waffle House then turn left onto Hunter Road, (may not be marked ), for 3.7 miles range is on the right.

From the NorthWest: Dayton / Crossville / McMinnville

Take TN.60 East to intersection with TN.58 then South for 14.9 miles to Hunter Road turn left onto Hunter Road for 2.4 miles range is on the left.

From the South: Dalton / Atlanta

Take I.75 North to Exit 11 then turn left and go under the freeway at the traffic light in front of Waffle House turn left onto Hunter Road, (may not be marked ), for 3.7 miles range is on the right.
